Connell Cannon, cattle dealer, Donegal Town, originally of Drimkeelan, is reported in the Londonderry Journal of 30 March, 1874, as having been appointed Inspector of the Live Stock Insurance Company of Great Britain. The principal agent for the company was William Cannon, insurance agent, Mountcharles – possibly a relation? This would have been one of Connell’s many side activities ancillary to his cattle dealing business.
