One of the earliest newspaper references to a member of the Cannon family of Drimkeelan. Connell Cannon, the site author’s great-great-grandfather, born in the mid 19th century, left Drimkeelan to go into business as a cattle dealer in Donegal town. By 1873, it seems he was set up in business sufficiently to be able to make contributions to the Poor Relief Fund, see below from the Londonderry Sentinel of 25th February of that year.
