The Derry Journal of 19th February 1883 reports brothers Patrick Cannon, farmer, of Drimkeelan, Mountcharles, Donegal and Connell Cannon, now a cattle dealer in Donegal Town, as both having attended, on 11th February 1883, the funeral of Nathaniel Scott of Mountcharles. Nathaniel had succeeded his father John as land agent to the Sinclair family, one of the landlords in the locality, and was well respected in the neighbourhood.
